Petro-Nav is a recognized leader in petroleum
products shipping and to remain so, is consistently implementing
quality and procedural improvements as well as technology
upgrades to its charter and owned fleet. Within this context,
Petro-Nav is implementing an Arctic port risk management (PRM)
framework and intends to complete several port assessments associated
with its Arctic sealift operation.
Acuratek was mandated to develop a port risk
assessment for Kangiqsualujjuaq in Nunavik, Quebec. Having gained
firsthand experience in offloading operations at this port
and in preparing and fine-tuning the Oil Transfer Risk
Module (OTRM) toolset based on this port call, Acuratek was
well positioned to complete this project. Thus, many tasks
were completed for the risk assessment: extraction of critical
port manual information, proposing the PRM human resources that
would participate, preparing OTRM materials, conducting several
risk review exercise with the selected PRM human resources
as well as delivering completed risk worksheet templates that
identify priority risks for this port.
Petro-Nav’s initiative has further secured its
market share and demonstrated resilience facing any shipping
related event, leading the way in safe, frontier oil
transportation.
